Hello, I have just been reading some of your articles, particularly the one on disfellowshipping and was moved to write to you. If I may be so bold, I would like to share my story with you. I was born into a large extended witness family: uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousins, we were the “model” witness family you could say: – Dad was the Presiding Overseer, mum a regular pioneer. And I went along with it, why wouldn’t I? That was where all of my friends where and I wouldn’t have dared question it.
When I was 19, I met my husband. I was young and so incredibly naive. Whilst I was dating my husband he hit me for the first time.

Criticism of the Bible is an interdisciplinary field of study concerning the factual accuracy of the claims and the moral tenability of the commandments made in the Bible , the holy book of Christianity. Long considered to be the perfect word of God by devout Christians and the Jewish parts by devout Jews , scholars and scientists have endeavored for centuries to scrutinise the texts to establish their origins a related field of study known as biblical criticism and validity. In addition to concerns about ethics in the Bible , biblical inerrancy , or the historicity of the Bible there remain some questions of authorship and what material should be included in the biblical canon.
By the end of the 19th century some such as Julius Wellhausen and Abraham Kuenen went as far as to claim that as a whole the work was of many more authors over many centuries from BC the time of David to BC the time of Ezra , and that the history it contained was often more polemical rather than strictly factual. By the first half of the 20th century Hermann Gunkel had drawn attention to mythic aspects, and Albrecht Alt , Martin Noth and the tradition history school argued that although its core traditions had genuinely ancient roots, the narratives were fictional framing devices and were not intended as history in the modern sense.
The modern historical consensus is that it is unknown who wrote most of the books of the Bible.

I am dating a Jehovah’s Witness and I am trying to teach him the Christian teachings on the subjects in which our religions differ. I am struggling with the fact about the new heavens and the new earth after the second coming of Christ. They believe that when a person dies they go to sleep and then when Jesus comes again he is going to resurrect everyone and judge the faithful and the unfaithful.
Then the faithful will be in the new earth in paradise and the unfaithful will be destroyed. Also, that , mentioned in Revelation will be ruling in the heavens with God. I was wondering what the Christian view of this is and the Scriptures in which they come from. Well, for starters, the Bible teaches that when a person dies his soul goes to be with the Lord, if he is a true believer in Jesus Christ 2 Cor. Or, if he is an unbeliever and has not repented of his sin and embraced Christ by faith, he is cast into outer darkness.
It is not that people “sleep” in the sense that they are unconscious during the time between their death and the return of Christ. It is appointed for man to die once, then the judgment Heb. Secondly, the Jehovah’s Witnesses speak of the judgment upon the unbelievers as “annihilation” meaning that they will be “blanked out of existence. They also believe that the , of Revelation 7 is a literal number describing all those who are particularly extraordinary Jehovah’s Witnesses that is, those Jehovah’s Witnesses who have performed especially good works and service on earth.
But such a reading of that text is not warranted, since among other reasons the book of Revelation uses such language not literally but metaphorically throughout.
What To Know About Dating A Jehovah Witness.
Knock, knock. Many people feel under pressure because of the stressful times in which we live. Do you think God intended that we live this way? So many people are depressed.
Or what portion does a faithful person have with an unbeliever?’ Baptised It is however not a disfellowshipping offence to date or marry a non-JW. I do not.
I’m a non Jw currently seeing a Jw. I am not totaly clear about the rules about Jw’s in dating. Could someone explain this to me and does it vary from family to family at all? Matter of fact, they are only allowed to date other JWs if they are seriously ‘looking for a marriage mate. Some JWs and some JW families are more lax about this than others, but the elders take intense, personal interest in each member of their congregation at least if they’re breaking the rules and if it gets out that a JW is dating a non-JW they can get in a lot of trouble.
I hate to be negative, but many JWs who date ‘worldly people’ non-JW are doing so to have a secret life, so I wouldn’t count on acutally being a real part of their life. The only alternative would be if the JW wasn’t really serious about being a JW, and was looking to ‘get out. There are strict “recomendations” about dating non JW. I am a JW who dated a non JW as a teenager. My family in the end forced me to stop seeing him, it was him or them and at 17 I was not ready to say good bye to my family.
I married the next man my family “approved” of and have been unhappily married for 10 years. I have recently caught up with this boyfriend love him now more than ever and should have stayed with him.
